Reed tip gapping is the art of finding the precise gap between the reed tip and the reed slot end, WITH THE USE OF YOUR THUMB AND THE SOFT PLINKING TOOL the aim is to introduce a slight bend in the reed from half way to the tip, gently plink then test plink and test until the response is crisp and

if the reed is only responds to light soft blow or draw = gap is too close

if the reed is only responds to hard blow or draw = gap is too far open

if the reed there is no response to any blow or draw = gap is leval with the reed plate
